Record Store Day 2016 - Was A Real Winner!

Record Store Day 2016 was once again a roaring success. A massive thank you to Derricks Music and to everyone that called down to see us on the day and keeping me busy talking about all things Vinyl and music, and I hope you all got the records you wanted.

Here's just a few shots from the day of some happy shoppers.

The flagship Rega RP10 was once again playing all day with one very eager Johnny from the band Buffalo Summer wanting to hear the test pressing of their new album on it. 

The limited edition Rega RSD2016 RP1 turntable was this years prize in our free draw, and with such a large turnout through the day we had to get some emergency entry forms printed not long after midday! It's always great fun when we come to the point of making the prize draw and this year was by far the best phonecall to the winner. To say he was happy would be an understatement! we could all hear him shouting down the phone.

Needless to say he was in the car and on his way to Derricks within seconds, so we stayed at the shop so he could take it home and play it that night.

Speaking with the winner since Record Store Day I asked if he could let us know how it was going and he kindly passed on this message:

"I have been drooling over the Rega RP1 for some time but hadn't found the chance to buy one due to weddings, new-born baby's and other home purchases. So when I found out that a prize was being drawn on RSD 2016 for one of these systems in my local record shop (Derricks Swansea) I jumped at the chance. Some hours later after entering the phone rang and I found out that not only had I been fortunate to win one of these amazing turntables but it was also the limited edition Pete McKee RSD 2016 player. I was totally ecstatic. Upon receiving this turntable I have hooked it up (which in itself was an ease) to some vintage Sony speakers and a behringer mixer which are bog standard bits of equipment but the sound produced from this turntable is crisp which is down to good quality components. Now experiencing the great quality of Rega's products I am now saving for my next purchase, some Rega speakers."

Once again thanks to everyone that came down on the day, I had such a good time I can't wait to do it again next year. We are planning a lot bigger and better things for next year as it is going to be the 10th Anniversary of RSD. The only thing I am dreading is what is bound to be an amazing list of releases for the next one, so start saving is my advice!
