X Rated, DTS X Rated, Say Hello To The New Yamaha CX-A5100 Surround Processor
/We finally have the Yamaha CX-A5100 on demonstration here at our Manchester store. The new CX-A5100 now has the latest DTS X surround technology as well as the ever popular Dolby Atmos surround format.
The outgoing CX-A5000 really impressed us with the amount of control and detail it had over music and movie soundtracks and the CX-A5100 doesn't disappoint.
New and improved Cinema DSP HD3 technology also improves the way this processor handles the limited number of speakers in a home system to create the effect of a movie theatre space. It makes our modest sized demo room sound positively massive (insert big smiley face here).
Yamaha now have MusicCast!! What?? you say...well it works in the same way Sonos does.
They now have a range wireless speakers that work as part of multi-room set up. So, basically, you have a networked system with all the rooms, managed from one central app on an Ipad or Google tablet and the CX-A5100 has this built in.
Yamaha also have soundbars and stereo music systems with MusicCast built in.
Read all about it and watch the how to videos here and here.
Dolby Atmos and DTS X are welcome here.
The Yamaha CX-A5100 and MX-A500 are a match made in heaven.
The thunderous MX-A5000 lets you configure your set up for a 7.1.4 speaker layout, which is probably the best speaker layout for Dolby Atmos/DTS X in the home.
We have this set up with the KEF R900 floorstanders, R600 center, R400 subwoofer and R800 surrounds with the KEF Ci160QR ceiling speakers taking care of Dolby Atmos/DTS X duties.
Played through a 103" screen with a Sony projector, it's the most fun you can have in a home cinema dem room anywhere in Manchester (in my opinion).
On the MX-A5000 power amp (flipped on it's head in the picture above) Yamaha utilise the H-frame to strengthen the chassis with a fifth foot to keep everything stable.
The fifth foot, as demonstrated by Chromey and Rupert, clearly visible above, helps to stabilise the huge transformer which is positioned right above it.
The new CX-A5100 also lets you pass 4K60p video and is HDCP2.2 compliant.
Throw in the ability to stream high resolution Flac, WAV, Aiff and DSD files, connect a turntable, Wifi and Bluetooth for connectivity and you a high end processor that can also be a central hub for all your analog and digital music files.
